Supplements During Pregnancy

As a woman is growing a tiny person, it's important to think of it as one of the most Herculean efforts she will ever accomplish. Similar to climbing a mountain, (quite literally), her body will need much more nutrients than ever before in order to do this without depleting her own body. When I had my first few children all I was told is I needed a prenatal vitamin. One that made me incredibly ill if taken on an empty stomach in addition to make it challenging to stay, um, 'regular'. I learned that one giant horse pill would never give me the nutrition I needed. Likely I was just peeing out the pill at best and and worst, it was stuck in my intestinal track. Cadavers have been seen to have One A Day pills trapped in the colon. Disgusting but true. With my last baby I was wiser to the nutrition and supplement game. Ningxia Red and B vitamins were a huge addition, along with Multigreens. Here is a list of supplements that ever pregnant woman needs. Frankly, ever woman should be savvy to this routine. Friends, when it comes to your health, consider looking at is as a "wellness commitment" to yourself, and it SHOULD be a commitment that becomes your non negotiable. Before, during and long after childbearing years. Supplements can easily fall to the wayside because we don't "feel" or "see" an immediate change. It's important to keep in mind that It's not how it makes you feel TODAY in the "right here, right now" it's how it sets you up for strength in health and wellness tomorrow. 1. Ningxia Red I can’t say enough about the Ningxia Red drink and how it helps to support the body during the first trimester and beyond. It will give an energy boost and it will help to support digestion which we all know gets wonky during pregnancy. Most of all, when you are famished and in need of nourishment, Ningxia Red is something you can grab. At the very least, drink the Ningxia and stave off the massive hunger pains until you’re able to get a bigger snack. 2. Ditch the Prenatal- I know baby needs a lot of extra nutrients and while trying to eat a wonderful mix of real nourishing foods every day is critical, supplementing with a multi-vitamin is a MUST during this time. Master Formula is not a typical multivitamin, as it is a blend of certified organic whole food extracts that provide vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B9, a prebiotic and is a perfect companion for your probiotic supplement (remember this is something you should be taking all the time for healthy digestion!), a high-potency vegan vitamin D3, vitamin K2. We all know how K2 is missing from our diets and is vitally important! Vitamin A and vitamin E to round out the fat soluble vitamins which are both vital for baby development. Turmeric root oil (totally awesome that it contains this as you can’t buy it separately from Young Living as an oil, Cardamom oil, Clove oil, Fennel oil, Ginger oil 3. Vitamin C As we all know vitamin C is supportive of the immune system, and is an antioxidant, and helps to form a healthy placenta. Did you know that Vitamin C is important for the absorption of iron from food? Iron is essential while growing a healthy baby. Do not buy Vitamin C at any drugstore. Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. This means that you get rid of what you don’t need easily. So you want to make sure you have a Vitamin C supplement that you can actually absorb or you are just literally pouring your money down the toilet! Super C vitamin C tablets from Young Living are not drugstore quality, because you amp up the absorption of the Vitamin C by combining it with our Young Living citrus oils and citrus bioflavonoids. Research suggests vitamin C and bioflavonoids have a complementary effect, making them both more effective when ingested together rather than separately. Take one Young Living Vitamin C vs. 5 of a lesser quality saves you money. There are 120 capsules of the Super C tablets in a bottle. Just taking 1 per day for maintenance? That is going to last you 3 months! 4. Minerals Minerals are elements in the soil that cannot be created by living things. Because our soil isn’t as rich and varied in minerals as it once was due to modern farming practices, we all need to supplement them to get both the macro and trace minerals we need like: Potassium, Chloride, Sodium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Zinc, Manganese, Copper, Iodine, Selenium, Molybdenum, and Chromium. Young Living has a liquid supplement product called Mineral Essence which is a nice source for many of these minerals. Put the amount you need in a shot glass of Ningxia Red or in veggie caps. It helps to make it easier to go down! 5. MSM Everyone needs sulfur to live. If you are depleted of the sulfur you need, then your ability to detox goes way down. Sulfur is our main source for supporting our body’s natural detox system. If you think you are allergic to sulfur then I might point out that what you are likely allergic to is SULFA which is not the same thing. That is in sulfa antibiotics. Not the same thing we are talking about here. Sulfurzyme is a great way to get in your much needed sulfur. In addition to Sulfur, Sulfurzyme contains Ningxia Wolfberry powder. Why wolfberry powder? MSM needs certain nutrients to be assimilated into our body and cell and wolfberry contains all the nutrients needed. To understand the need for Sulfur, it's important to know what it actually does. Sulfur makes up our hair, skin, nails and is also key for rebuilding the myelin sheath around our nerves. The nerve sheath gets eaten off by toxins and heavy metals and we need sulfur for nerve communication. Sulfur also equalizes water pressure inside of our cells which supports joint health, our immune system, our digestive system and our cardiovascular system. 6. B Vitamins Fatigue and mood swings are quite common in pregnancy. B vitamins help with your energy levels and your mood. You'll want a supplement that contains all the B’s: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12. Each B vitamin performs a unique and separate function in the body. Unfortunately, they must be replenished daily, as they are not stored in the body. So basically all that you need daily of your B’s. It is a natural source of folate which is vital for baby to avoid things like spina bifida, etc. Super B is a perfect supplement because it includes all of the above and also includes Nutmeg essential oil and bioavailable chelated minerals such as magnesium, manganese, selenium, and zinc.
