Nutmeg is both energizing AND soothing at the same time.
Isn't creation so cool?

Nutmeg is known to be energizing and uplifting, yet It also supports nervous and endocrine systems and prostaglandin balance when taken internally as a dietary supplement. The nervous system support helps with the soothing aspect.
Many of the medicinal Nutmeg uses were first discovered by the Chinese and now are a vital part of Chinese culture. And in a more modern use in our own culture, the original Coca-Cola contained essential oils, including, Nutmeg. It also contained Coriander (Cilantro), Cinnamon, Orange, Lemon, Neroli and Nutmeg Essential Oils. This original concoction that many people drank was full of esters that are known for their soothing and relaxing properties.
What is the Genus Species? Myristica fragrans
This information is important because there are many species of Nutmeg however the most commonly used is Myristica fragrans. It is native to the Banda Islands of Indonesia and also grown in Grenada in the Caribbean and Penang Island in Malaysia. As there are many companies pumping out essential oils, irresponsibly I might add, and while something may be labeled by a common name, the use recommended may lead one down a path that is not beneficial, and possibly harmful. Just the common name on the bottle doesn't really tell you exactly what you’re getting- know the proper name of your oil before applying it or purchasing.
HISTORY
Nutmeg may go back to the Arabian word "mesk". The French translation is noix muguette and the English may have shortened it to “nutmeg” Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) was known as the first herbalist and naturopath of the middle ages. Her book documented her work.
