My oldest son, Zion was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago. About 6 months into that nonsense I read a book called “Same Kind of Different As Me”. Heard of it?
If not, and you call yourself a believer in Jesus, you’d be wise to read it. It’ll change your life if you let it.
It’s about a wealthy business man who forms a life changing friendship with a homeless man named Denver Moore in Ft. Worth, Tx.
It’s inspiring and blah blah blah, yes.
But- there’s a single line in there that has stuck with me for almost 10 years. “Most Christians are doing an awful lot of bible studying, but most don’t do a lot of bible doing.” ~Denver
I’ll say it louder for those in the back- Most Christians are doing an awful lot of bible studying, but most don’t do a lot of bible doing.
Programs. Church events. Bible studies.
Denver’s words pierced me at a time I needed to be pulled out of my narcissistic self. I was so self absorbed trying to get Zion to not have cancer that I was losing sight of truth. Of my mission in life.
To freaking GO, like He said. Never in the history of ever did Jesus say, "you know what you guys should be doing, sitting around, eating a crap ton of food, studying the scriptures and not going and doing it." Turns out, Jesus was more of a doer, and He requires the same from us. "...works prepared in advance for you to do."
So what are you waiting for? Get out there already! Oh and don’t post it all up on social media either. That’s just gross.
